PLEASE CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULE NOW: Please be sure to mark your calendars with the above dates and clear your child’s schedules now. We will need to have everyone at each rehearsal, particularly in the weeks leading up to the show. Please let us know now of any conflicts that you know of. Thanks for your help with this!
MATERIALS PROVIDED: You will be getting a CD of the songs for the show in the mail by Thursday and a libretto (original script) of the show on the first day of rehearsal. Please have your child listen to, learn, and love all of the songs! The libretto is your child’s to keep so please be sure that their name is on it and that they bring it to rehearsal each week. There will be a $20 replacement fee for lost librettos, so do keep track of them! Please note that we will be adding a few songs, so your child will also need a 3-ring binder for additional materials (see “materials from home” below).
MATERIALS TO BE BROUGHT FROM HOME ON THE FIRST DAY & THEREAFTER: We would like for your child to have a 3 ring binder (with pockets in it) in addition to the libretto as we will be giving kids added songs, etc. They should keep their libretto in the pocket of the 3-ring binder. We would also like for them to have a pencil case in the binder with pencils and a highlighter.
LCJT TOTE BAGS: Your child will be getting a new LCJT tote bag (in “Peter Pan” green) as an opening day gift! This will be great for carrying the 3-ring binder with libretto and added materials and also their dance shoes (see “dance shoes” below). Please write your child’s name clearly on the tote in Sharpie as the cubbies will be a “sea” of green bags!
AUDITIONS ON SEPTEMBER 16 (TUESDAY CAST) AND SEPTEMBER 17 (WEDNESDAY CAST): Kids will be doing a singing audition in the second week of rehearsal (August 16 and 17). They will be singing 30 seconds of any song in the show of their choosing “a capella” (no accompaniment). Please assure your child that they do not need to be nervous and that the audition will NOT be role determining! We just think that it is a great experience for kids and it also gives us a chance to get to know them better. Roles will be determined bases on a child’s “casting” (how appropriate they are for a role based on age and other factors), the child’s desired roles (we ask them to “like” 5 different roles), and the child’s experience with us. Girls are definitely go for boy’s roles too!
CASTING: We do our very best to make sure that each child has a lot to do in the show based on their skills, abilities, and experience. Sometimes, however, kids don’t get the exact role that they would like. Please help us prepare your child for this possibility. As is our tradition, we will be splitting up the lead roles so that several kids will get a chance to play them. Peter Pan is a really wonderful “ensemble” show and everyone will get lots of stage time.
DRESS CODE: Students should wear comfortable clothes that they can move in: T-shirts and shorts, sweat pants or leggings with dance shoes or soft soled tennis shoes and socks (until your child gets dance shoes). You will be getting a LCJT T-shirt in the first week of rehearsal. It is preferred that kids wear this. Please no jeans, skirts, or other restrictive clothing. No hard soled shoes, rigid “high tops”, sandals, or flip-flops. Long hair should be worn in a ponytail. Please have your child come ready to move!
DANCE SHOES: We would like for everyone to have dance shoes to rehearse in and for the show. Jazz or ballet shoes are great (any color). Payless now has these in all sizes up through adults! Please arrive at rehearsal at 3:55 PM to help your child get into their shoes.
SIGN IN/OUT: Each child will need to be signed in and out each day by a parent or other designated adult. Please do not just drop your child off. Your children will not be permitted to wait outside for you after rehearsal. You must come in and sign them out. No Exceptions. If someone else is picking up your child, please let us know.
EMERGENCY INFORMATION: If you are new to LCJT, you will need to fill out an emergency card and bring it on the first day of rehearsal (you should have gotten one in the mail with your CD). For returning students, we should have a card on file, but please check to see if all of your contact information is current.
RESPECT/CELL PHONE AND ELECTRONICS POLICIES: Please find the LCJT Disciplines and Cell Phone/Technology Policies attached. We also sent you a hard copy in the mail. Please go over these very carefully with your child. Please sign the form and have your child sign it as well. This will be due from everyone on the first day of rehearsal. Thanks for your help with this very important matter! Please let us know of any questions or concerns.
PAYMENTS: If tuition is paid in full, the $50 materials fee is waived. We also offer a free monthly payment plan and the materials fee is paid with the first monthly payment. We do accept credit cards, but only through Paypal on our website. Monthly payments are due on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of each month. Please find a payment schedule attached. The August payment with materials fee should have been paid when you reserved your space. There will also be a September payment on the first day of rehearsal. The last payment will be in April. We shifted everything a month so that you would not need to worry about a payment in May while preparing for the show. Feel free to mail in your September payment to save time on opening day!
SNACKS: Students should bring snacks and water as we will have a break during rehearsal. Please no sugar or caffeine!
ABSENCES/LATENESS: Please call or text Suzan if you are going to be absent or are running late. Her cell phone is 818-726-5065.
REHEARSAL CONFLICTS: Please let us know if you have any conflicts that you aware of (needing to arrive late, leave early, or be absent) as soon as you can.
SAFETY RULES: No student is allowed to leave the rehearsal space without permission or supervision. We need to know were all kids are at all times! There are NO exceptions to this rule!
Thanks so much, everyone. We are really looking forward to flying with you this school year!
